attracted me to it. I refer to my characters as &amp;quot;him&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;her&amp;quot; rather than &amp;quot;me&amp;quot; or &amp;quot;my&amp;quot;. I know I&amp;#39;m in the minority, but I wouldn&amp;#39;t mind actually seeing the player/character gap furthered -- at least in some aspects. Where this gets sticky is in situations like raids, where I&amp;#39;m facing down the exact same foe I killed last week, at the behest of some group that my character may or may not agree with politically. And as you mention, tools like voice chat definitely dissolve any immersion that might be present. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So I guess my point is that I&amp;#39;d like to see more games that offer both ends of the spectrum, as one of the major complaints from roleplayers in WoW is that they do not feel that they are given the tools to do what they want with the game.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3352155589322140093/4459154777448149383/comments/default/412988045829974061'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3352155589322140093/4459154777448149383/comments/default/412988045829974061'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.thatsaterribleidea.com/2009/11/character-player-gap.html?showComment=1258586536355#c412988045829974061' title=''/><author><name>Vajarra</name><uri>http://the_exodar.livejournal.com</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.thatsaterribleidea.com/2009/11/character-player-gap.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352155589322140093.post-4459154777448149383' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3352155589322140093/posts/default/4459154777448149383' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-1626723464'/></entry></feed>
