You assuming a much more narrow definition of "let players make plans" and "let players know what success means" than I intended. Letting players make plans involves showing them the story and familiarizing them with the aspects of the game world, their current state, and their possible future states depending on the player's actions.evizaerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09836136474835816824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352155589322140093.post-84965118796950070022009-12-14T11:06:02.050-05:002009-12-14T11:06:02.050-05:00just FYI a mule is the offspring of a male donkey ...just FYI a mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse.... nothing to do with a camel lol.

although that might be an interesting breeding experiment...Logannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352155589322140093.post-61460268753062123272009-12-14T06:30:59.027-05:002009-12-14T06:30:59.027-05:00I shamelessly fish out a webpage from the internet...I shamelessly fish out a webpage from the internet, to vaguely point at what I had in mind: http://philosophy.uwaterloo.ca/MindDict/representation.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352155589322140093.post-25163131153994485842009-12-14T06:04:24.296-05:002009-12-14T06:04:24.296-05:00You guys commenting here seem pretty confident in ...You guys commenting here seem pretty confident in yourselves.

To mess you up and to perchance offer a clue to some additional philosophical insights. I would suggest looking up the problem of representation. This way, I suppose all about "meaning" and any notion of a narrative will get a bit more complicated.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3352155589322140093.post-47742386561287558122009-12-14T02:57:31.494-05:002009-12-14T02:57:31.494-05:00There are a lot more ways to give games meaning. Provide an interesting storyline and allow players to affect it and develop relationships with the NPC (even if that relationship is that everyone hates that NPC)

You do understand that the entire purpose of narrative is to provide a framework of meaning for a game?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
