Facebook released some pretty interesting technologies a few days ago at f8. You can read Raph Koster for the doomsday scenario, but I doubt it will get that severe. We are approaching a new version of the Web. Mark Zuckerberg leads the charge, undoubtedly reestablishing himself as the King of the Internet.

Too much liking sounds like an excellent way to make what might be niche content disappear entirely.
It's antithetical to the nature of TATI--we're basically a niche blog and I don't care at all about popularity--but Mot wants to do it.
Which is why you pay for analytics?
I have so far paid $0 for this anything at all related to or including this site.
If you grow your niche, your ideas will hold more power. There's no better way to get what you want out of the market than to be more popular.
Besides, maybe your blog will make people stop and actually think about the games they are playing.
I should have phrased that better: The trend of like/dislike and rating up and down seems that it would tend to push down those things which are for niche groups while generic content gets pushed higher. I wasn't trying to predict anything with this blog in particular.
I live in a niche world. Some vague "like" button does nothing to help me find anything that I want or like--it's useless to me. I have a good idea what I want, and I do not have much trouble finding it.
It's free advertising on Facebook. You don't have to click the button if you don't want to; no one is twisting your arm.
Evizaer and I will continue to write articles that interest us first and foremost. No rating system or any other widget will influence our interests.
